This is an extract from a poem I read at my wife's funeral in August last year.
God saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, “Peace be Thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day god called you home.

Joey, we will miss you, in many ways. Be it Aunt Sally with the boys. Quiz team, member, shouts of Joey on the wing and West Hams great player! As you walked in the pub. All done with that little smirk of a smile. Our hearts were open for you, we listen, we cared. May you forever rest easy, Joey. We will miss you. With love Sue and Grav xxxxx
